Lansing Regional SmartZone and Michigan Women Forward Collaborate to Broaden Access to Digital Marketing Skills

Deadline is Dec. 13 to apply to the once-a-week virtual program that builds Lansing-based entrepreneurs’ competency in the digital realm

EAST LANSING, Mich.—(Dec. 7, 2023)—The Lansing Regional SmartZone (LRSZ) is partnering with Michigan Women Forward to offer Bridging the Digital Divide, a computer access and digital literacy program for entrepreneurs.

Michigan Women Forward, whose vision is to create an inclusive economy for the state of Michigan, is a nonprofit community development organization with a mission to expand economic opportunity, empower the next generation, and celebrate and honor the accomplishments of Michigan women.

“An inclusive economy is a strong and thriving economy—and that’s why the Lansing Regional SmartZone is thrilled to partner with Michigan Women Forward in offering Bridging the Digital Divide,” said Lansing Regional SmartZone Executive Director Harrison Leffel-Jones. “Entrepreneurs who can leverage digital marketing skills have access to an incredible array of resources to grow their businesses.”

The six-month Bridging the Digital Divide program, led by Katrina Turnbow-Marin of Kanopi Social, is open to Lansing-based entrepreneurs interested in improving their digital business skills. Bridging the Digital Divide consists of weekly 90-minute virtual sessions, with participants learning about content marketing plans, platforms and tools available to businesses, business website development, setting up Google Business Profiles and much more.

Applicants must have a business that has been operating for at least one year. Participants in this cohort who successfully complete the program will receive a free laptop to help them reach their digital business goals. The deadline to apply is Dec. 13.
